What it measures
Nexus Signal is the headline score of the TrendNexus Intelligence Layer: a weighted 0–100 measure of how strongly a subject is trending across every ecosystem we track — GitHub, Hacker News, research, models, media, primary sources, commentary and video. It is a weighted sum of nine observable factors, nothing else: no editorial judgment, no black-box model.
A repository chart tells you what developers star. A news feed tells you what journalists cover. Nexus Signal tells you when those worlds agree — the strongest predictor that a subject is genuinely rising rather than echoing inside one community.
How it's computed
Each factor below is normalized to 0–100 from real signal data in the current window, multiplied by its weight, and summed. Factors whose inputs are not yet ingested (search momentum, X volume) are excluded from the weighting and reflected in Coverage — never faked.
How fast signal volume is growing against the subject's own baseline.
Recent-window signal rate divided by the subject's trailing baseline rate, log-scaled. A niche subject accelerating 4× outranks a giant coasting at 1×.
How many independent ecosystems are active at once.
Count of ecosystems (of 8 tracked) with at least one qualifying signal in window. Independence is the anti-hype filter: one community talking to itself scores low.
Depth of engagement, not just volume.
Hacker News points and comments (comments weighted 2×) plus log-scaled model downloads.
Are builders actually adopting it?
Star velocity across repositories matched to the subject in the tracked cohort.
Is the research community engaged?
New arXiv papers matching the subject in window.
Is this new attention or persistent background noise?
Share of window signals that are recent relative to the subject's history.
Direction of engagement over the window.
Trend of per-signal engagement across the window (estimated — labeled est.).
Does the signal sustain, or spike and die?
Distribution of signals across the window's days — a single-day spike scores low.

Nexus Signal measures attention and adoption evidence — it is not a quality judgment or an investment signal. A high score with low Nexus Confidence means the evidence is thin; read them together.
